Abstract

We've gone through one of the Bugis community heritage cuisine which is Burasak. In Malaysia, there are many Bugis people lives in Johor, Selangor and Sabah. Burasak is commonly known as buras in Sabah.

Burasak can usually be found in festive seasons, such as the Eid-Mubarak celebration, particularly in areas with the Bugis communities. This has been a long tradition regardless of generation for us to prepare and serve traditional food for the Eid-Mubarak celebration.

Due to a covid pandemic, we haven't had a chance to have a real live interview with an expert in burasak making. However, we did an online interview with them. It's been a great interview session with them, as we've got more knowledge of burasak.

In addition, burasak has become one of tourism products in Pontian, Johor.
