Electronic health records: planning the foundation for digital healthcare in Malaysia. Discussion Paper. Khazanah Research Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (Unpublished) (2021)
Abstract
An electronic health record (EHR) refers to a digital record of patient health that can be seamlessly shared between healthcare providers, allowing it to follow a patient throughout their journey across the healthcare landscape. With potential benefits such as ensuring continuity of care, improving clinical decision-making and saving cost, EHRs have garnered attention as an important foundation in the digitalisation of the health industry. Countries such as Singapore, Australia and Norway have made efforts to implement an EHR system and have reaped the benefits in terms of being able to provide better coordinated, patient-centric services.
