Abstract

Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to the community.1 It includes emotional, psychological and social well-being. However, unhealthy mental health can lead someone to develop mental disorder including MDD. Mental disorder is defined as “a syndrome characterised by clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s
cognition, emotion regulation or behaviour that reflects a dysfunction in the psychological, biological or developmental processes underlying mental functioning”.
