Abstract
Motorcycle lighting is crucial for safe riding by means of illuminating the road for night driving, for indicating the moving direction and increasing the ability to be detected by other road users. Under UN R53, functional and safety requirements of each lamp component are underlined, covering number of bulb, width, height etc. This paper presents the study on the characteristics of lamp installation for small
engine capacity motorcycle in Malaysia. Survey to motorcycle dealerships was conducted to identify and categorize the types of lamp available in the market.
