Development of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) applications: past, present and future

Development of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) applications: past, present and future. Jurutera Online: Additional Reports. (2020)

Abstract

In the automotive industry, the evolution of different automotive models has resulted in more and shorter consumer choices product cycle. Therefore, the demand for time to market in terms of technological progress i.e.
electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, as well as improved product quality will require widespread implementation of CAE in the development cycle. Likewise with electronics, aerospace and energy industry where there are tight timelines in delivering products, high risk assessments in
product life cycle and maintenance, CAE has become an important tool to replace the conventional one prototypes are built and the testing process. And the trend of the future is virtual prototyping combines CAE software and simulation to break down disciplinary silos and domain approaches. On the other hand, the concurrent engineering process by looking at product features in parallel is
preferred.
