Abstract
With the present and future expansion of the D.I.D hydrological network and the implementation of a computerised databank the four digit numbering system has been found to be inadequate. It has been diffcult to avoid duplication of station numbers as new stations are brought into operation or upgraded from manual to automatic instrumentation. For these reasons a new seven digit numbering system is being introduced.
