Abstract
Malaysia’s biomass industry has a unique place in the country’s economic sectors. It is an enabler to four distinctive sub-industries, namely bioenergy; bio-agriculture; high-value chemicals; and ecoproducts. Electricity generation from renewable energy (RE) resources by the local biomass industry falls under the bio-energy segment. The electricity is generated via direct combustion. The biomass is used as fuel for boilers in high-pressure steam production. The steam rotates the generator’s turbine blades to generate electricity.
