Abstract
Generating electricity from small hydropower (SHP) plants is not new to Malaysia. The capability has always been around, even in the preIndependence era. The first SHP scheme was implemented in Sungai Gombak, Selangor back in 1905 with a generating capacity of 700kW. The Sungai Sempan SHP in Raub, Pahang was installed in 1927 with power generating capacity of 1.2MW.
