Abstract
At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, George Town finds itself in transition, particularly with the award of the UNESCO World Heritage status n 2008. There is a sense that the city is beginning to wake from century of slumber and it is beginning to take ownership of its destiny, which is evinced by the community's decision to organise its own arts festival every mid-year.
