Portable UV plasma air purifier in automobile. Journal of Transport System Engineering, 2 (2). pp. 42-45. ISSN 2289–9790 (2015)
Abstract
Air quality in automobiles is worse than the air outside. As such, there is a need to develop efficient air purifier to remove air pollutants in automobiles. In this study, a prototype has been assembled and tested for its functionality and performance using air quality measuring devices. Performance test has been done to test the efficiency of the air purifier in removing five different air pollutants, whichareCO2, NOx, CH2, CH3and SO2. The percentage change of removal of each air contaminant is quite high, having removedSO2with93%, CO2with48.85%, NOx with35.96%, CH2with27.05% and CH3with25.35%. Overall, the air purifier is highly efficient in removing air pollutants.
