Abstract
The designer explored three inspirations: spiders, mantises, and snails. Through a focused analysis of these natural concepts, the designer aimed to modernize the chair's aesthetic by combining the intricacies of the chosen influence with contemporary armchair design principles. Ultimately, the SPILA emerged as the primary concept for the chair design project. The SPILA armchair blends contemporary design with traditional structural elegance. Its beautiful symmetry and patterns mimic the shape, form, and legs of the spider. The agility, symmetry, and uniqueness of arachnids serve as design cues for this armchair. The SPILA armchair strikes a balance between utility and nature thanks to its ergonomic shape and flexible wood and metal construction. This armchair's legs, front, and backrest are meant to simulate spiders. Through the SPILA design, the designer values nature and reveals the beauty of spiders. This armchair's legs are designed to resemble the character that can be seen on a spider's legs, while the front of the chair is fashioned like a spider's fangs and the backrest is formed like a spider's body .
