Abstract
Momiwulan is a form of daily calendar Kimaragang ethnic based on the moon phases. Momiwulan acts as a measurement approach and time indicators for most suitable days for executing several actions such as newly cleared land, farming, cultivation, and marriage. As with other cultures in the universe, the Kimaragang ethnic also have an intellect of moon movement system, lunar cycle and the relationship between moon phases in the customs and beliefs that shape their social-cultural basis. To date, skills in Momiwulan among ethnic Kimaragang have been forgotten, and customs and beliefs associated with this cosmological wisdom are no longer practiced. This paper aims to record and summarize the local knowledge of Kimaragang ethnic about Momiwulan, which is so closely connected to ethnic Kimaragang-wide basis customs and beliefs. The analysis results showed that Momiwulan belief is important as a timeline guide in the implementation of important activities as well as a time measurement in the Kimaragang ethnic past. It is desired that this study able to furnish data related to prudence in building one Kimaragang ethnic calendar that memorized orally and passed down from generation to generation.
