Evolutionary Genomics and Anthropological Approaches on the Endangered Malaysian Orang Asli Populations: towards Ensuring their Sustainability. [Website]
Abstract
Southeast Asia (SEA) has the longest record of human habitation outside of Africa for nearly two million years following the arrival of ancient human, the Javanese (Homo erectus). However, there are still many questions concerning the Southeast Asians, in particular the Orang Asli of Peninsular Malaysia that has yet to be answered.
Realizing the need of this, a group of researcher from Unviersiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has gathered their field of expertise to come up with the "Evolutionary Genomics and Anthropological Approaches on the Endangered Malaysian Orang Asli Populations: Towards Ensuring their Sustainability" programme. This project is funded under the Long Term Research Grant (LRGS) which was awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
