Abstract
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Islamic banking sector continues to power economic growth, with total assets expanding 9.1 per cent year-on-year to RM1.58 trillion as at end-July 2025.
This represents 38.7 per cent of the country's total banking assets, reflecting the growing role of Islamic finance in the country's broader financial system, according to the Economic Outlook 2026 report. Demand for Islamic financing, which represents 47.5 per cent of total banking system loans, rose 8 per cent to RM997.7 billion, outpacing conventional lending.
