Abstract
In the writing of the modern history of Sabah, a matter that is not given much attention by researchers and scholars is regarding the pilgrimage and spread of Islam there. In fact, the spread and practice of Islam in Sabah has a significant role in shaping the history of modern Sabah, whether during the colonial era or the post-colonial era. When it comes to the development of Islam in Sabah, organizations that are always given attention are the Sabah United Islamic Organization (USIA) and the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS). Without denying the role of the organization and also the role played by the United Sabah National Organization (USNO) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Jelata (BERJAYA), there are also individuals who play an important role in the development of Islam in Sabah. Names such as Imam Suhaili, Mandur Syarif, Munsarif, Syarif Kedah, and many more, are preachers who played a major role in the development of Islam in Sabah.
