Abstract

Protected Areas must be planned and managed for ecosystem and communities. Studies have proven that land use activities surrounding the PAs could increase the pressure to the latter. This study is to identify the land use activities carried out by the communities around Krau Wildlife Reserves (KWR), and ascertain their threats and impacts. It’s based on ground verification and Digital Elevation Model. The findings showed that the activities were glaring and encroached into the KWR and poses great threats to the latter. Thus, a better mechanism is needed to protect the KWR.
