Abstract
Most animals have the ability to move actively. Most have appendages used in moving around. These appendages sometimes are modified to enable them to move in different ways. Thus, bats have their fingers of their front limb greatly elongated and covered with thin skin that they open and flap to fly. For birds that swim, like the ducks, the hind foot has a thin membrane of skin between the toes for paddling. Different animals may specialize in walking, hopping, slithering, swimming, flying, burrowing or climbing.
