Abstract

This presentation highlights forest biodiversity in Sabah and the conservation efforts undertaken by the Sabah Forestry Department. It also underscores the importance of biodiversity in ecosystem services, nature tourism and sustainable utilization of forest resources. Among the conservation efforts featured are strategies and policies related to Sustainable Forest Management (SFM), the Heart of Borneo (HoB) Initiative, mangrove rehabilitation, Lower Kinabatangan-Segama Wetlands Ramsar site, R&D on biodiversity conservation, environmental education and nature tourism.
