Abstract

This paper outlines a framework to conceptualize the predictors of entrepreneural chance and succes among the Malays. The approach is behavioral, viewed from induvidual dispositions and situational or contigency perspectives. From the view that behaviour sterns from individual disposition, the malay value system related to their belief in capitalism, represents the main baseline to conceptualize relevant socio-psychological vartables. One other aspect of socio-psychological behaviour which is contigent upon the environment, draws from the importance of job satisfaction in delinealing such as behaviour. Predictors of entrepreneurial choice and succes are conceptualized around perceived job satisfaction with business as an occupation. Finally, economic predictors are examined which include among others, the ability to assume risks, perception and evaluation of rewards, and the support system from the government and other related sectors.
