Abstract
Leadership is one of the fields that attracts many researchers as there are diversity of theories, perspectives and models in explaining the complexity of a leadership process. Issue pertaining to unethical leadership especially in the civil service has created various issues of corruption, misconduct and inefficiency. This study examines the influence of personality factors on ethical leadership of leaders organizational trust by using Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM analysis. This study was conducted on 220 public service officers (various grades) as leaders of the ministries and state governments. The personality test tool in this study uses HEXACO-PI-R, Ethical Leadership at Work (ELW) and Organizational Trust Index (OTI). Findings show that honesty humility, extraversion, Conscientiousness can predict 18.4% ethical leadership. While ethical leadership can predict organizational trust by as much as 17.6%. This research can contribute to the development of a leadership profile especially for the civil service in Malaysia.
