Abstract
THROUGHOUT time, technology has evolved to meet the changing needs of society. Technology plays a major role in advancing growth and development in societies and nations. In the 18th century, technology that converted steam into energy powered factories. It gave birth to the first industrial revolution. The second wave of industrialisation in the late 19th century materialised with electricity providing the needed energy. The Internet powered the third industrial revolution in the late 20th century. We are now in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, which is powered by digital technologies.
