Abstract

In the globalization era, the development and practice of international law have essentially become Western centric. What is demanded of the Muslims today is to oppose that dominant approach and instead propose an alternative approach which is commonly acceptable and truly universal. Muslims in particular, have to pursue this approach of common understanding of law, values, and ethics and initiate a broad based Islamic cooperation in the development of siyar, which will facilitate the accomplishment of their global interests and consequently contribute to the general welfare of the world.
